Feeling Good Week

Feeling Good Week 2010 - Friendship
This year Feeling Good Week ran from 5 - 9 July 2010. The theme was 'friendship'.

About Feeling Good Week
Launched in 2004, Feeling Good Week (FGW) is an annual mental health awareness campaign which runs every July aimed at children and young people attending schools and youth organisations in Surrey. Each year FGW has a different theme, this year’s was ‘time out’, focusing on taking time out from the stresses and strains of everyday life to do something enjoyable.

Feeling Good Week aims to:

  • Raise awareness of mental health issues and promote the importance of emotional well-being for children and young people in Surrey.
  • Explore different emotional themes, giving children and young people the chance to think about, and understand how to manage and cope with their feelings.
  • Support schools and youth organisations so they can develop their own mental health projects throughout the year.

We work closely with Healthy Schools to plan and run the week. Over 100 schools and youth groups sign up each year. We support schools and youth groups by providing:

Resource packs

In partnership with Healthy Schools we supply all schools with resource packs with information on the theme, fact sheets on mental health, lesson plans, pull out activity sheets and useful resources.

Grants

We provide grants to schools on a first come, first served basis to help resource the week. Primary schools are eligible for £70 and secondary for £150.

Competitions

As part of Feeling Good Week, we run two competitions:

  • Individual artwork, prizes are: £20 gift vouchers, certificates and £80 prize money for the school. Winning pictures are also included in the annual CAMHS calendar.
  • Whole school competition: leading the way in emotional well-being –recognises the school which has done the most consistent work throughout the year. Winners receive £150, a trophy and a certificate.

Promotional materials

FGW themed posters and postcards are sent to all schools and youth groups for use ahead of the week. Download your poster at the bottom of this page.
