Everybody's Business: multi-agency training
Basic child and adolescent mental health awareness for staff and volunteers who work directly with children and young people.
A two day course which aims to:

Increase mental health awareness for front-line staff and volunteers, thereby improving access to mental health advice and support for children and young people across Surrey.

Promote inter-agency working and understanding within the four Surrey areas. Each training event will be supported by a CAMHS primary mental health worker or other CAMHS clinician.
Key learning outcomes:

To feel confident about identifying factors which contribute to good mental health in children and young people.

To be able to identify signs that a child or young person is struggling with their mental health.

To be able to ascertain whether you are able to manage these difficulties within your existing role.

To know how to access appropriate services to address the child or young person's mental health difficulties and to have an understanding of what services such as CAMHS can offer.

Foundation Course in Family Therapy and Systemic Practice
The course will run between October 2010 and June 2011 on Fridays, approximately fortnightly, for a total of 13 full days.
The course offers a multidisciplinary training in the concepts and skills that come from Systemic Family Therapy.
The course is suitable for practitioners & managers working in education, health and social care settings. The participants will be expected to apply learning from the course to their work setting. The training includes:
- An overview of different theoretical models on work with families and other systems.
- Tools and techniques for understanding families.
- Development of systemic practice skills.
- Clear learning outcomes to help with appraisal and personal development plans
- Opportunities for case discussions with reflecting groups.
For AFT accreditation participants must attend a minimum of 60 hours tuition and there is a recommended 120 hours of independent study.
For entry onto the course a core professional health education or social care qualification or equivalent is required.
